I know, I know...patience is a virtue they say...it's so not a virture that I acquired! I'm the most impatient person I know (well, my 7 yo definitely inherited this trait from me and we probably are neck and neck)!
Well, I have been working on my teacher toolbox for the past 3 days!!! My patience, or lack thereof, has caused me to rush through the process somewhat and I'm suffering the consequences because of it. I've attempted to rush the process and paint while too hot (even after reading the label and it clearly says not to). Ugghhh...
The process was moving along just fine until I realized on Day 1 that I had it upside down when I applied the red coat of paint. I was adamant not to make this mistake after reading another blogger's post about doing this. And what did I do??? SMH...So now there are few "spider webs" in the paint, along with a couple of runny areas. I never wouldn't thought that spraying painting a small box would be so much work and take so much time!!! I've again become leery of this task.
I just applied the clear coat (again, rushing the process - the can says to wait 48 hours- well, technically it has been 48 hours for part of the box - the part that I painted first - UPSIDE DOWN!!! I painted the top yesterday. But, I couldn't wait any longer to get this thing done. And yes, it is warmer than the 90 degrees that the can warns against. But I just want this box done! The label says it can be handled after 30 mins I think. So I will be posting pics of the finished product shortly. I am going to get this thing done...TONIGHT!!! (I finished the drawers yesterday...)
ONE HOUR LATER...
The toolbox is complete!!! Well, the clear coat is still drying, but it's done. I've put the drawers inside and I must say that I'm loving it...in spite of the few flaws that it has! They're part of its character! Ha! I make myself laugh sometimes!!! Anyhoo, I decided to post the pic of the finished product on the original post...another OCD thing...click here to see it.
